closely packed heads of amateur ethnographers
“closely packed heads of amateur ethnographers” was written in 2012 for thingNY and performed at Queens Town Hall in the same year.
The composition involves dropping several small balls into a grand piano played by several people at once, so that the balls affect the sound of the strings. Ideally the balls would be large handballs or ping pong balls (depending on the type of effect suitable to the room and the piano), but for the premiere thingNY chose to use bouncy balls.
